The Waking Sea, Dragon 9:31, Justinian
Notes on Dalish:
- Organized by tribes.
- No libraries. Oral history.
- Keepers = Mages.
- Training for mages = one on one.
- Facial markings upon adulthood
- Designates which God they are dedicated to (very personal)
Dalish Gods:
- Elgarn'nan, the All-father, God of Vengeance
- Mythal, the Great Protector, Goddess of Justice
- Falon'Din, God of Death and Fortune
- Dirthamen, Keeper of Secrets.
- Andruil, Goddess of the Hunt
- Sylaise, the Hearthkeeper.
- June, the God of the Craft (Magic?)
- Ghilan'nain, the Mother of the Halla. (Halla is a type of animal. Horned, deer-like. Very sacred)
- Dread Wolf Fen'harel (locked away the gods)
- Mythal, the Great Protector, Goddess of Justice
- Falon'Din, God of Death and Fortune
- Dirthamen, Keeper of Secrets.
- Andruil, Goddess of the Hunt
- Sylaise, the Hearthkeeper.
- June, the God of the Craft (Magic?)
- Ghilan'nain, the Mother of the Halla. (Halla is a type of animal. Horned, deer-like. Very sacred)
- Dread Wolf Fen'harel (locked away the gods)
Did not sketch Zarath's facial markings. He said they are very personal so I think it might be considered rude.
Further research required. Histories. Cross-reference with Early Tevinter Histories? Perhaps the Kirkwall Circle might have something in their library?
Applications
- Possibility for treatise on Dalish culture?
- Comparison of the Dalish teaching method?
Proposals
- Would it be possible to arrange a Dalish Keeper as a guest speaker at the Circle?
- If so, what arrangements can be made to keep Chantry hostility down?
Personal thoughts
- The problem with oral history is that it is nearly impossible to cross reference. If I continue this course of study I should consider requesting a research assistant.
